Seen a bloke in a 4wd towing a small trailer today with bent draw bar on his 6x4 trailer. The trailer had a cage about 1200mm high all round the trailer, it may have been a bit much for the little 6x4 .
There were two big scrape marks in the road were the draw bar had bent right at the trailer and dragged, to were he had stopped of the road.
What a bloody nightmare that would be.
It was raining and this poor bloke was standing in the rain on the phone looking at a nice trailer with a very out of shape draw bar.
He was just coming into a town so help would of been close by , but his day would of been a wreck.
Cheers Scoof . :-(

Must have had a heavy load in the front of the trailer, and the drawbar made of angle iron. Seen it happen out in
the desert when someone had all their
water in the front of the trailer.
To straighten it out, the guy at
Innamincka hooked it up to his towbar, jacked up under the drawbar and jumped like crazy on the trailer!

That's nearly as common as the wheel falling off through lack of grease.
I saw some
young guys with a bent drawbar on a busy road once. They had just come from the brick yard with a load of pavers and were forced to do an emergency stop causing the bricks to slide forward and put all the weight on the drawbar bending it to the ground.
They were trying to unload the the bricks by running back and forwards across a busy road with armfulls of bricks and stacking them on the verge LOL
I would have just dragged it

1998 we came across one of these. On the French Line of
all places. We had two cars a cruiser shorty and our cruiser. Their car was a
grey cruiser with 4 old blokes in it their trailer had a tucker box freezer as an esky full at the front of the 6x4 and all their
camping gear. The fellas chained up the A frame and dragged them over and over and over. Our both cars hooked up a couple of times. Spent an extra day out there. Ran out of smokes and beer. Arrived in
Birdsville for the races to find the cold
water system was broken in the caravan
park and one of the biggest dust storms I have ever been in. The blokes were happy as these old fellas shouted at the pub all day and night. I was 8 months pregnant and not impressed at all.

I had that happen to an old trailer of my Dad's.
Went to the building supplies and picked up some compressed fibro flooring. 4 Sheets of 2700x1200x19. When I turned in the driveway the front of the trailer just kept going down. Lucky I was clear of the road.
When I checked it out most of the draw bar, which was a box section had rusted through.
Water had been sitting in the box section and it had rusted through the side walls and the bottom section. Because it had rusted from the inside nothing was visible. There was no bubbling of the paint, no discolouration nothing
Bought a new trailer. Now it is due for replacement. Rust never sleeps.
