Thanks Julie

Hi Julie

South of Perth covers a big area but I reckon just about anywhere that hasnt been cleared for a farm ... there are forest areas within an hour of the city and the wheatbelt, south west and great southern are dotted with reserves and national parks where there should be good displays.

if you are in Perth itself it would be a god bet to get along to the Kings Park wildflower festival which starts today and runs all month. you will see plenty there and pick up heaps of information about places to go and see them in the wild.

Good luck and enjoy your stay in WA

and another thing ...

a book "guide to the wildflowers of south western Australia" by Simon Neville and Nathan McQuoid has excellent mud maps covering most of the places of interest and will tell you what you are looking at. Doubtless there are many others but that is one I use.

Kojonup, Cranbrook, Tambellup and Ongerup have wild flower displays and directions of accessible places to go stating the last weekend of September. I am more familiar with Kojonup that usually has several hundred different varieties on display in the RSL hall

If distance is not a problem (assuming you are in Perth) the Stirling Ranges can not be beaten this time of the year to see an abundance of wildflowers in the wild. I'm not sure about the wildflower show in Cranbrook now but it use to be fantastic (I'm sure it still is) also not sure when it is on. If you want something to eat in town try Nanna Vics Cafe.

Cheers

Hi Julie,

Check out this westernaustralia.com/wildflowers or Western Australia's Wildflower Holiday Guide at an info centre. And have a ball!
