JT, a bit more information please.
Are you asking about buying one now at 20 years old, or what were they like when new?
Helps to give a meaningful answer.

Hi Gary,
There was one for sale but I missed it...Grrrrr.
Anyway I am looking for a rig for my son. He's not into heavy duty 4x4 but I want to get him into a safe and reliable rig. Fuel economy is a bit of an issue. Any suggestions at this point will be great. Thanks

Hi Johnnytasman
We had one way back them and it was a top vehicle. We had it for 5 years and did many a great and memorable four wheel drive trips. The extras back them included a complete
suspension upgrade, extractors, long range and auxiliary fuel tanks - we had over 200 lites of fuel, 100
water tank in the back of the vehicle, the list goes on. Out in the deserts, and going slow and in four wheel drive, we would still average around 17
miles per gallon.
Cheers
Stephen

I had the NG with the same motor. Loved it but we replaced the V6 at 210,000 as it had worn out.

Hi Johnny
Comfortable, Reliable, solid. We have a Patrol now but when we see an old Paj we talk of fond memories.

Evan

Johnny, had one too; it was pretty unbreakable BUT really (underlined) heavy on fuel in my experience.
I keep going back to Pajeros...

Hi, I have one of those and I bought it with 200.000ks on it,did a trip with the van to WA. in 04 and have done several outback trips, very happy with it , at the moment I am in
Cobar with van on the way home to SA, have been to QLD and NSW, getting about 6 ksto the ltr with the Jayco on,
Had the gearbox checked when I got it as had heard of 5th gear probs , but it was only the earlier models with that prob,
Had the heads done after the WA trip , dropped a valve guide ( came loose ), but very happy with it . Just visited a mate on
Bribie Island with a NF , he has 489.000 ks on his , it uses a little oil but I reckon it is the guide seals.
If you want to know any tricks etc. you can PM me.
Cheers Des.
