Connie Sue Hwy Feedback

The track was for most of the way in good condition. Hope to include it again as part of a double "Anne Beadell Highway and Connie Sue Highway" trip in August 2010. The Great Victoria Desert was at its best.

We came down it from Plumridge Lakes to Rawlinna about six weeks ago and it was very ordinary for the last bit, once you turned off the graded section and headed due south to Rawlinna it became very rough and slow going due to limestone outcrops and mudholes both wet and dry.

Hi Peter,
I bet you had fun coming out from Plumridge Lakes. We went up that track and it was very tight in places, even for my Prado. It would have been very tight in the Humvee.

Cheers

It was, we did go bush a few times in the more open country where it was obvious that it was very tight but open county and you could go round the outside of the scrub. It wasn't as tight as the track from Cundelee to Queen Vic spring,Trans road to Cundelee was 2wd/70kph.

Hi Peter
I was speaking to Mick O before we went and he gave me a good run down on the Connie Sue and what to expect. The only corrugations that were bone bleep tering started before Mackenzie Breakaway and went for about 40 odd kilometres, finishing just past Parallel No 2 Road. To do the road any justice, a lot of time could be spent out there. Like I have said before, the art site wins hands down and will do the Connie Sue again, just to visit the site again.

Cheers

Loved it...apart from the MacKenzie Breakaway corrugations. Hope I can spend a bit more time on it next time. How good an idea was the Cooper Bore tank and pump?

Hi Mick
The Cooper Hill Bore was great. We all topped up out water, it was good drinking water. I was told that this time last year, it was only the bore casing and no solar pump.

Cheers

A friend who's done a lot of guided tours through that area reckoned you could blindfold him for months, and he'd still know within 20 seconds where he was the moment you turned onto the Connie Sue anywhere north of Neale Junction...

having traveled down it, I sort of got his point...

Hi Scott
Yes indeed it is one very magic track. We struck it nearly at its best. Windflowers very out and the bush was looking very refreshed from recent rains. I think the best contrast, are the marble gums, set against the deep red dunes.

Hi Scott
The wild flowers were out, but a couple of weeks later and the whole country would have been a wash in colour.

I find it very strange that the Connie Sue is so little travelled compared to other Len Beadell Tracks. Nothing hard about it, great scenery and driving conditions, you will not see another vehicle until Neale Junction, what more could you ask for.

We will do it again, that is for sure, and hoefully next year again in August.

Cheers

Stephen
