G'day Diamond,

Toughdog Gas shocks are manufactured in the USA, Foam cell shocks are manufactured in Mexico, Ralph shocks are manufactured in Canada. These facilities are owned and run by the same US company called Arvin Meritor. All componant used in our foam cell shocks are manufactured in the US, only the assembly and painting is performed in Mexico. All of our shocks up to 18 months ago were made in Pulaski, Tennessee. This factory was taken over to produce OE product so a new factory with the same machinery used in Pulaski was open, south of the border. I must admit that at first I was a little concerned with the move but after using shocks made there for the past 18 months or so I have full confidence that the product quality has not suffered. Hope this answers your question.

Regards,
John Agostino

Hi David,

I'm just curious to know if this lead amounted to anything? I am considering giving these guys my business, via OL, (due in part to reading this post), so am hoping that you receive something in return.

Regards,
Hugh

Well Michelle rang spoke to him - He seemed interested and indicated that he would take a certain level of advertising. Michelled spent a long time writing an email to confirm everything and as yet we have heard nothing back.

Just as a note he was looking at National advertising at $1150/yr, I have just analysised our stats and for this money he should expect 500+ referals per month with over 300,000 views of his business each year. So a only $0.00036 per impression of his business to the Internet and less than $0.19 for each visit to his website. CHEAP HEY - Maybe we need to increase our rates - The Mags won't give you these stats. In fact we show each National Ad each month more times than the number of mags printed (by the major mag groups) > 30000 readers per month of each National Ad.

Maybe you can tell him to advertise and you will give the business to him. See if that stirs him to action. As mentioned he indicated that he would do it - just needs a push I expect.

Thanks for taking the time to ask. We need these advertisers to keep the site running!Regards

Can't wait to hear what you can do with a 96 Rodeo dual cab ;)

Something like the range Calminioffer would be great.

The key with any IFS torsion bar front end is those cotrol arms, the 3" kit
from Calmini at present exchange rate is about $1,143.69 + import costs (or $2000 from the Aussie distributor)

While the armsby themselves are $477.70 + importing.

Will you be offering this sort of suspension modifications manufactured locally?

I'm afraid that I can not offer product to that level of modification for that vehicle. Generally with that sort of conversion from the US there is a substantial amount of engineering fabrication work required due to the left/right hand drive conversion and then RTA certification is required.
All I can offer you is torsion bars, springs, shocks, shackle bushes and ubolts. We have an extensive range of suspension products but try to stick to the upgrading of suspension parts that require no modifications, e.g. shocks, springs, steering dampers etc,
Sorry I can't help ypu.

Thanks Peter for having faith and purchasing the Return to Center Steering Stabilizer. OL are doing a great job supporting Toughdog and with 22 stores around Oz you know you are covered wherever you go. I know it was lots of years ago but we won an industry award for the RTC in 1995. To my knowledge that damper is the only damper ever to do that.

Why are the Toughdog spring return steering damper made by "4way" ?

Is it a 4way product or Toughdog ?

I also contacted Rancho as i have there shocks to see if they sold a s/return damper and they said yes and were about to ship me one untill i found out it wasn't a Rancho damper just 4way.

Whats going on ???

Hi Kev,
4way Suspension is the parent company. Toughdog is a registered trademark of 4Way Suspension. As a matter of fact the Return-to-Center is not branded as a Toughdog product but as a 4Way Return-to-Center Steering Stabilizer.

Some of our products are unique and lots of companies purchase them from us to on sell. Some Rancho distributors are good customers of ours and as we are the only company that produces a RTC, they recognise that it is the best in the market and distribute them for us. If you require one it doesn't matter where it comes from as it will be produced by us and the quality is the same regardless of where you purchase it and will be covered by a 2 year/40,000km warranty.

Hope this answers your question.

John Agostino

G'day Swampy,

I guess part of the reason that our foam cells work well on larger vehicles is that the 41mm bore/60mm casing of the shock has plenty of oil to stay cool and a large surface area to dissipate the heat build up. We also put in a wiper seal to scrape the rod to stop dirt etc from reaching the seal and tearing it thus causing the shock to leak.
Thanks for your feedback.

John Agostino
