Just wondered if anyone has passed this way out of the Simpson Desert lately ? I will be in the area around middle of Sept . and it would surely shorten the trip home .
Cheers John

The most recent reports including from Mungarannie roadhouse are saying the Warburton track is still closed even though the crossing itself is shallow enough. You may be lucky for it to open just before you get there as they are saying around two weeks. First ones through should have a challenging time of it both on flood plain area & the half dozen big dunes off the rig road.
Have fun,
Cheers Craig..............

Yep Craig, its the floodout that is the issue. In 2001 we went out there soon after it was reopened and there was a lot of water and detours still in the 8km between the Birdsville Track and the crossing.

The track looked like this:

You'll need a Nissan to pull you through bloke LOL. How's the Video Camera going? There is a post above asking about the performance of the Sony and here you are. Good to see you're back in civilisation (where exactly???). Hello and X's to Mrs Incredible.

P.S. It's a good run down through that way generally. Road is in pretty good nick. Certainly better than most you're used too. Doesn't get a lot of traffic hense it stays in good condition (was on it in July last year). Didn't cross any big dunes on it, a couple of small ones only. Do not know how the floodwaters have affected it. If it's open...do it!
