Hi Kanga
If it was me in your position, I would take in a few a the highlights of the Great Central and stay at Tyukayirla. It is 3 hours north of
Laverton and 3 hours south of
Warburton. Andrew and Sue run a top location, great hot showers and if you are lucky, wood for the
camp fire. There is no such Aboriginal
population at Tyukayirla, only those passing between
Warburton, Cosmo Newberry and
Laverton.
To take a few of the great sights in of the area, drop on to the Great Beyond at
Laverton, they are very helpful with the local sights. Ask them for the Hann
Camp mud maps, that will take a few hours alone. When you get to Tjukayirla, ask Andrew for his mud map of the new
caves that he has recently found, containing Aboriginal Art - they are
well worth the time and drive, or even take the 120 kilometre round detour up the
David Carnegie Road to visit Empress Springs. The road there at the moment is in first class condition and a very easy trip.
The next day it is a comfortable 6 hour drive up to Warakurna, with the only need to refuel if needed and not worry about staying in
Warburton.
These are my thoughts only and may differ from others, but I would not personally stay at
Warburton.
Cheers
