Many EO'ers would have at some stage visited or passed thru' Danggali Conservation
Park, north of
Renmark in SA. There is a fully equipped Shearer's Quarters there at Canopus Station (
park HQ) which was until very recently available to the general public to hire. Until very recently that is, when I tried to book it for a trip, I was told it is no longer available to the general public but is now for the exclusive use of the Mobile Outback Work
Camp (MOWCamp) which is prisoners from the
Port Augusta Gaol. I have objected to this policy and would encourage EO'ers who have an interest to do the same. Submissions to the Danggali Management Plan may be made to:
Manager,
Policy and Planning,
Dept for Environment and
Heritage,
GPO Box 1047
ADELAIDE S.A. 5000
OR
jason.irving@sa.gov.au
I would encourage interested persons to object to this policy, particularly considering there is no other accom within 100 km of the
Park and that the bush
camp sites have no facilities not even a long drop. Over to you people.

Will make sure I drop an email off tomorrow. Totally agree with you. What a waste of a great
camping spot.

Was just thinking, if I go and break into it and use it, then I can
camp there with the others... true ? LOL

HA that explains something!
On Saturday I spiked a tyre on a cattle gride a few ks short of the
park.
While changing the tyre two SA Gov dual cabs stopped to see if all was Ok.
Each had five guys in it - they said they worked in the
park.
At the time I thought that was a lot of people. Only the driver in the lead vehicle spoke to me and no one looked terribly happy!
Unfortunately the 50mm piece of iron penetrated my tyre so I needed to head back to
Renmark as we were intending to push on to the Flinders via
Yunta and didn't want to do that down a spare and towing a Bushtracker. Have to try another day!
Spoke to some other people who were heading out of the
park - they were bird watchers and were quite disappointed by the lack of
water and therefore birds.
