Babies under 6 months aren't really going to care too much about activities, basically as long as they are getting fed, not sitting in poo, and getting lots of attention from you they are happy.

About the only thing is that for every couple of hours of travel you need to allow around 30mins on the side of the road, changing nappies, feeding, or just giving them some attention.

Totally agree with Snowy. We've travelled extensivley with three kids and at that age, most of their time is spent studying the back of their eye lids.

As they get a little older, simple toys like MegaSketchers work great. Kids will draw for hours. Before long, they'll be into ipods, Nintendo DS and watching DVD's.

Personally I try and discourage this behaviour as much as possible and prefer that they try and occupy their time by looking out of the windows, just as we did when we were kids. You're never too old or too young for a good game of Eye Spy.

Fab

Make sure they can spell before you let them loose on Eye Spy.

My son was about ten and did the eye spy bit.

It stated with O W.

After about ten minutes we all gave up. Then he told us the answer.

OBNOXIOUS WEED.

G'day Bazza
Not sure if this is what you are after, but might help in the future.....

A couple of months back we drove from Bunbury - Carnarvon in one day with a 4 month old and a 2 yr old. Before we left I went to the 2 buck shop and bought a heap of sticker books, bubble blowers, colouring in books, small toys, etc. I also bought a DVD player as the 2 yr old loves the Wiggles. Over the whole 15hr drive the 2 yr old watched the Wiggles once and wanted it turned off the rest of the way to blow bubbles with the bubble blower, and play with the stickers (she was covered in them!!).
The 4 month old was happy in her car seat for most of the trip - until feed times...
