We are due to pick up our new van in early October it weighs 1640kg with a ball weight of 170kg we will have it behind a NM Pajero which has uprated king springs and heavier shocks. The question I am asking is ...I have a set of the 4 round bars would they be ok or should I need a WDH. I don't want to keep up with the Jone'ses I just want to know if I would need to upgrade. Thank you for your input.

I reckon I would go with the WDH, reason being, if you set it up correctly, it evenly distributes the weight placed on the ball to both the rear and front axle. It is completely adjustable & easy to set up.
By so doing you re establish correct steering & braking capabilities, both of which are major safety issues.
The gear you have may be OK & you can get an idea of how
well it distributes the weight by doing the following: The van should be loaded as it would be if you were travelling.
Place the vehicle & Van on a level surface with the van uncoupled.
Measure from under the wheel arch to the level surface on each wheel & record your measurements.
Couple up the van & connect your existing four bars. Then re measure as above.
This will give you an indication as to whether or not your bars have taken some of the load from the back to the front axle.
Congratulations on the purchase of your new van & hope it provides you with many happy travelling memories, Cheers

By the time you load the van the tow weight will probably exceed 2000kg with a ball weight over 200kg.
The 4 bar level rides you have are only good for a ball weight up to around 120kg. You'll need a HR 550 WDH (250kg) to conform to legal requirements and to maintain safety. M,bishi require a WDH if towing in excess of 1350kg.
