I recently purchesed a VMS touring 430 and after 2 months a line has developed across the screen, it wont read the way points that i have loaded on using the computer and it only picks up certain waypoints that have been loaded on the unit itself when it wants to. After several e-mails the correct way and talking with the dealer I have still have not had a response from them for over a month even my dealer wont get back to me. Has any one else had any drama's with these guys or are they just plain slack, It's still under warranty and no one is coming to the party. They marketed them selves as the best there is and I now know why HEMA give them the BOOT, whats a Garmin of the same capabilities worth these days?

Hi Inkbandit
There is no way that VMS can get out the warranty issue. Contact your Consumer Affairs office in the State that you live, and they will be able to help you out. As for Garmin, I have the Nuvi 5000, great unit but not happy with the Garmin Topo Australia maps that I have fitted. Garmin admit that they have issues with the accuracy of the data supplies and are having a big revamp of the Topo Australia in 2010. On a recent trip, one of the other people in my group had a Hema Navigator. It won hands down when compared to the Maps on my Nuvi. Hema are about to release their new 5" model within the next month or so, so that should make a great unit even better.
I hope that you get your issue sorted out.
Cheers
Stephen

I have had no problems with my 500 tourer. If you have a query ring VMS direct. I had a couple of queries concerning the operational side of it, they sorted me out promptly and courteously. You may have a crook SD card.
As far as I am concerned they leave the rest of them for dead. Hema, there is to much rubbish on it. Neither you or I know the whole story behind the split.
Oziexplorer and Natmap 250k is the only way to go when you are offroad.
Tony

Hi Inkbandit,
Have you actually spoken to Chris at VMS?
They have their direct phone number under the "More info" tab when you place your mouse on the blue VMS hyperlink in the body of your post above.
Hope this helps.
cheers

Security is mostly a superstition. It doesnt exist in nature. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

Hi. I'm not sure what state you're in but in NSW Brian at GPSOZ may also be able to assist. He's been helpful for me when I've had questions. Hanging off his website is a VMS
forum that may help with some of your questions. Cheers
