While this is not first hand, I have a close friend that bought one 2.5 years ago.

We used it once on a Cape York trip in a heavy pull (Troopy & camper) out of deep clay ozzzz, while it did the job on the day it was never the same again.

He had it fail a year later while trying to right a rolled camper trailer and the thing smashed the gearbox. When he contacted Ironman re the g/box they could not help him with parts and said that a new model was to arrive in 6mths time and that they would give him some sort of discount on the purchase of the new winch.

He gave up waiting and bought a Warn and is as happy as a pigglett in poo now.

Peter,

very good winch. Been using them for over 2 years without issue. If you search the forum you'll find that this question has been asked several times before in the recent past.

Cheers Mick

Thanks Mick I have just done that. Th price difference between the Warn and Ironman is just so great. I think Ironman will win out.
Cheers
