The lights that illuminate the hot/cold (blue/red) area on my 80 series have given up the ghost! The ones where the fan switch are fine.
They would usually come back on with a little tap however now do not work at all.
I took the radio out and console apart but could not see a globe holder.
Went to Toyota and they could not help either.
Has anyone had the same thing happen and if so what did you do!

Thanks,
Rob

My 80 series does the exact same thing - I just tap it or move the control back and forward a few times and it usually works...

Rob,
The same thing happened to my Dad's Camry (1998 model). Eventually it wouldn't come on at all and he ended up having to dismantle half the dash just to replace the bulb!
Modern dashboards are NO fun to work on, and usually one of the first things to be installed in a car on the production line (often go in before the windscreen does).

Good luck! :)

Hi Rob
What type of heater control do you have?
It is not a silly question as there are 4 different types.
Most of then use rice grain globes or sub minis
They are a little fiddly to deal with but not hard
If you have a good electronics place near you a bag of 10 globes is $25
If you buy Toyota they are $9 each

Hi Ray,
The controls are the Lever type that connect to cables behind the panel. I guess it's called the manual type. 95 GXL
I went to toyota and globes do not even show up on thier computer when they bring up the heater control panel.

From what I gather I have to remove the AirCon switch which will then allow me to remove the faceplate that gets illuminated by the globe.

If the globe is the little 1.4W 14V like the Altimeter globes then I will just transfer the Altimeter globe to there as the alti ones are alot easier to access.

Which electronics shop are you referring to? I'm in Melbourne if that's of help.

Thanks,
Rob

Hi
These globes have 2 small wires from the base that you fit into the holder.
The hodlers are a small cicle with a screw driver cross on them .
have a look at the aerial or rear demister switch.
I am more familular with the push button type or the climate control types
But I do not see that they would be much different
I do not know Melbourne
but I use RS industries
