Hi Norm
Firstly rest assured, you have just purchased a top BPS mouse receiver, they work a treat.
Have you loaded the software CD that comes with the unit?

Part of the software includes a Com Port Status checker. A very simple set up and you should be up and running in less than a few minutes. Another very important thing is to have the Baud Rate set to 4800. In the GPS Information pages, it is a very simple task of pressing the "Scan Com Port" tab and then making sure that you have the same Com Port Number as selected by the Scan.

You will get it sorted out and be very pleased with your top purchase.

Cheers

Stephen

The software that comes with the GPS MUST NOT be running at the same time you try to run it on Oziexplorer etc. I only use the software to determine which port it is running off.

Norm

if all else fails, "read the instructions"

Most of the time, you have to install software before plugging a device into the USB port. Make sure you use the same port for the device everytime you plug in. (otherwise windows will setup the USB port again).

If you want to run multiple applications off of the one GPS receiver you can use a program called Franson Gate.

Hope this helps.

Yes it's an excellent little programme and well worth the $30 odd it costs.

Not only will it scan all ports, including bluetooth, for incoming GPS signals, but you can output the GPS data to any number of virtual comports, so you can run several mapping programmes at once, but also port to Google Earth.

If you haven't got GPS Gate you aren't really serious about mapping ;-)
