I met someone ( I forget where but I think
Boulia) who had taken his Hawk on a lot of rough roads with no problems except that he broke a shock mount.
The guy who fixed it reckons they are pretty poor design , so I would perhaps have the shock mounts reinforced before I went, and maybe add some chains to limit axle drop to help the shocks. If I were you I would take some spare U bolts and maybe a main leaf and a spring centre bolt, as I recall the guy had loose u bolts also. AND do not overload it.
I have seen some going very fast on the GRR, but I do not know what the interior was like afterwards.
IMHO as long as you take it easy and let the tyres down you should be OK. The Savannah is not very difficult but can be rough and corrugated, particularly southbound from
Roper Bar .
I also recall that the Hawk was full of dust mainly AFAIK from the fridge vent, and the SWMBO was grumbling a lot as she cleaned up. So also make sure you seal the fridge vent and maybe run a bead of silastic around all the seams and joins.
