Hi,
I can't see the dash clock in my GU patrol at night. Must be a back light that's blown. Anyone know if it can be reached without taking the dash out and what bulb I need?
I'm after a set of second hand wheel bearings, nuts, washer and cir clip for a 2002 GU. Just to put in the tool box. Any ideas where to get them? Don't have a wrecker here that does.
Thanks

I wouldn't trust any second hand bearings. They can be easily damaged getting them out, especially the cones. new ones are not that expensive in the scheme of things.
Just for your info, I have never carried spare wheel bearings, but I do service them regularly, depending upon what the car has done in the interim. Better to do preventative maintenance, rather than worry about them on a trip. I do carry spares for the camper trailer though.
Others may think differently.
Cheers,
Mark

As I do with trailer bearings but thought if I could get a second hand set for the GU then it would be no dramas to carry. Your right though it's pretty rare to have a set fall apart.

Re the clock in your GU, this is a back-lit LCD display. Normally, these backlights are an integral part of the display, and don't use an incandescent lamp, rather it's a cold-cathode illuminator. Short of checking for a broken connection from the printed circuit board to the display, you might have to source a new clock or display assembly. Knowing Nissan, they'll prob want to sell you a complete dashboard!
But a clue may lie in the fact that the LCD display is brightly lit by day, and dimmed at night. If the display is quite readable by day, and appears backlit, then the backlight may be ok, and the problem may lie in the DC feed from your vehicle lighting circuit to the dimmer circuit in the clock.
cheers,
Gerry

Thanks Gerry, just checked and there is no back light during the day, ie no light on. Does this indicate the first possibility of a broken connection on the board?
Thanks

It appears that the light is not working then. It is fed from Fuse 28 (interior), but that also controls the sub-
tank, cold start. Worth a check though. Otherwise the light may be gone. The diagram doesn't really say if they're LEDs, cold-cathode or incandescent lamps, just a generic lamp symbol.
If you drop me a line, I can email you the circuit diagrams.
