Next month I am getting the 4wd systems "lokka" installed into the front diff of my GQ patrol.

Just wondering from feedback here (as it's not biased) on whether my standard CV's etc will be suitable for longevity of whether they should be upgraded.

I am not a "rock crawler" type of guy but my main driver for installing this is so I can tackle obstacles more slowly and controlled for the type of 4wding that I do. So if I drive sensibly then will they be OK?

Thanks,

In the majority of 4 wheel driving the standard CV's are fine, They are at their weakest is when reversing out of bogs etc with the wheels on hard lock. In a straight line all ok, given a steady right foot.

Gossy,

My brother had the 4wd systems lokka installed in his GQ with standard CV's and no probs. He does use his for rock crawling and swears by it.

Cheers

No guaranties you wont break anything, how heavy is your right foot? However I found the one I had fitted to my Rodeo allowed me to do what you have just stated "tackle obstacles more slowly and controlled" it certainly achieved that.
In the 4 years I had it fitted I didn't break anything.
The only thing you might notice is a more pronounced return to centre force on the steering wheel when the hubs are locked in.
Make sure the required clearances are achieved when its fitted, or the unlock action will be effected.

Cheers
Pete

thanks for that. I am having them fit it because there is too many comments around the internet saying "they said it was easy but it wasn't". Would rather pay them $300 than lose a weekend in frustration.

Going to Loveday 4x4 park next month after the install so give it a work workout there :)
