GPS Units Feedback

Hi Inkbandit.79.
Did you know that you can demand a refund or replacement for purchases if not working properly or faulty.
Call consumer affairs and they will confirm this. It is the sellers problem(Point of sale)not the manufacturer.
We are having the same problem with another brand.
Returning ours for a refund as they haven`t a replacement.

Try telling BigW that,My daughters Ipod stopped working and would they deal with it or replace it,nup (had receipt)..Gave me Apples no and said sort it out yourself.

Although it was quickly sorted when i called Apple they did not want to know about it.That was about 2 years ago.

It's a sad but known fact that some branches push it to preserve margin.*

Myself, I've stood in a Bunnings with a duff garden hose wrapped around my arm showing the "team member" their own returns policy on my iPhone (donk that I am)... which was ironic.

Then their returns policy returned to their memory.

This is digressing, but with Apple products feel reassured and speak to them by choice. They have treated me exceptionally.

On the GPS warranty side I had great help from Magellan, but in the end I told them the fix to the problem :)

Cheers,

T

* Don't blame the store - blame head office. If inclined to press your case in earnest, do so vigorously with head office, not the branch who likely agree with your concern ;)

The laws can differ State to State.

The iPod do have a National return to manufacturer agreement.

Check with the Office of Fair Trading in your State.

This is NSW.

Refunds myth

‘I don’t like it. But I can always return it and get my money back.’

Refunds fact

Not necessarily. Legally, refunds are only available in fairly limited circumstances.
You are entitled to ask the trader for a refund if the item you bought is:
-not of ‘merchantable quality’
-not the same as the sample shown or described in advertising or by the salesperson
-not fit for the purpose you made known to the trader and you have relied on the trader's judgement.

You are not automatically entitled to a refund if you simply change your mind or you later discover that you picked the wrong colour or the item doesn’t fit.

The upshot is - if it's broken / duff / naff / iffy then it's "not of merchantable quality"

Then your retailer is your reluctant friend.

Or the manufacturer if you want their retailer to squirm.

If both squirm, then you've bought a well glittered turd, most likely.

But do get you money back whilst pointing all of the above out.

Our Unit was returned and refunded.( Point of sale.) Unit faulty. They had no replacement. Will go back to this supplier again.
Head office (Hema) didn`t want to know us .Rang 3 times and received a quote number so they could ring us back. Didn`t happen.I had to keep ringing till eventually I actually spoke to someone about the unit.
Not helpfull and arrogant. BAD P.R. so that is when I contacted Consumer Affairs.(Vic.)
Will try again for a Hema when they are available. Hope to get a good one this time.
