Just wondering where the MAF filter is located on the 3.0 ltr Nissan Patrol engines. Rang local Nissan mob and they would not tell me as they reckon it does not need cleaning now and again.

On our 3l CRD it's on the hose from the air filter to the turbo. I think you will find it is in the same spot on all of them. It sticks out the front of the hose and you will need a security torx bit to remove it (2 screws). I did mine a couple of weeks ago now. Mine was covered in dust. To clean it I used electrical contact cleaner. Some have used metho I think. Be careful not to damage it as you will be up for a new one and they are not cheap.

Don't you love Nissan dealers, I got told they are meant to run with all the black soot in the intake system. My turbo was full of black crap, my intercooler pipes were also coated in oil, as was the intercooler. But I pulled the hoses and intercooler off and cleaned them out.

If you go to www.patrol4x4.com they have an abundant amount of info on this and many other issues regarding Patrols

Hi Greg,

Tnx the info, I found it and removed air filter cover and hose for a look and it's spotless at moment so will leave for a while.

Small thing like that should not cause so much trouble. Cheers P&J

Of course they would tell you that. When you take it in for service they will say you then need a NEW one.

I carry a new one in my glovebox (just in case).Well at least until the end of the month when I trade the Patrol on the D-MAX.

Forward bids accepted ..... Better still. Sir Kev, I have a MAF Sensor available for auction at St George.

Hi Malcolm,

Lousy mob in Nissan here, won't tell you the time of day but take you for a big ride. Only thing they said was "We clean or replace if they cause any trouble". That's possibly after the motor has gone BANG.
