We have been told we can
park our caravan at the town oval for free. Can anyone confirm this please?

Hi Jeff
You quite often see vans there, but not sure about for free. When it is a Day on The Green, they usually ask for a gold coin donation. You could give the
Clare Valley
Visitor Information Centre a call during office hours of 10 - 4pm weekends on 1800 242 131 or if in the area, 08 - 88422 131.
Cheers
Stephen

I.M.H.O. don't really know why you would bother to stay at such location (very basic facilities) in a town wiht a oub and
general store, when
Clare is just a few km up the road with a fantastic caravan
park, clean, comfortable and close to town.
Clare is a fair size town with probably all the facilities and features you might want in such area. Remember, if yours is the only van left unattended at Watervale (whilst you are out and about) there is no security and it would be very visible from the Main North Road to passing motorists. Enjoy the mid north, it is a beautiful town with lots of history.

Thanks I was just checking because we met some people up the road from Watervale who said this was so and we planned to have a look at the
Clare Valley for a few days so was looking at a
free camp if possible as we like to do it this way and it saves the pennies. Hopefully some others might respond with their
views.

Go for it Jeff im with you, dont think
camping at the scenic Watervale oval will be any more a risk than the
Clare CP that is also next to main north rd.
Dont listen to the DIO he doesnt live there.
Cant answer if its free , but bet its a lot cheaper than the
Clare CP.
Another option is the small, but nice, private CP at Leasingham, just a few K's down the road from watervale.
Enjoy your stay.
