Hi everyone. I currently have a manual 06 TD Cruiser. I have been having some issue with rear
suspension. There is a considerable 'clunk' from the rear
suspension when the
suspension returns fron near maximum travel. Subsequently we have replaced flogged out sway bar bushes with upgraded aftermarket gears which has reduced the 'clunk' but not eliminated it. I could replace all rear end bushes ( and will do I suspect)but was wondering if anybody had experience with specific bushes wearing badly. ? Shocks and springs new /near new .Cruiser has done 95k of mostly gravel work. Thanks for the input.

Had a similar clunk with a 95 series Prado and found it was the top shock bushes worn so it was metal on metal causing the clunk.

Thanks Chris, shocks are new but they have a tight clearance on the washers that retain the top bushes. Will have another look.Adrian

I've had similar clunks in various vehicles and often feared the worst. Apart from worn sway-bar bushes, the most common noises were fixed simply by tightening bolts - ie. the shock absorber mounting bolt (I think the rubber had compressed in time) or the sway-bar linkages.

I'm no Guru - - - - either.
I had the same issue (2004 IFS 100series) I just had (5 weeks ago) all the rear bushes replaced and new shocks all round.
Most of the noise was from rear right shock, top mount looked good and was tightened correctly but still clunked. All noise now gone.
Good luck with yours
