Supporting what you say Eric. There are some great rocks which give
Wave Rock serious competition, and
the Breakaways is worth a look even if you aren't ready to
camp. We have always had these
places completely to ourselves. Even
Lake Johnston would be a nice
camp spot, although not screened from the road like the others. It is a lovely drive, but as said, watch out for the mining road trains coming speeding through - it is 'their road'. It is a wide road, so plenty of room to pass.
gwezza, a quieter alternative is from a bit south of
Norseman on the
Norseman Lake King Road through the Frank Hann NP. It is much quieter and it is narrower. There seems to be some mining company activity out that way now, but i have not seen road trains on it. Again it is a clay road, so caution is required after rain, but we have been through it in heavy rain with our Bushtracker when towed with the Patrol without any problems. You can
camp at
Peak Charles (and climb it), but we have not done so.
