G'day Australia,
The missus is complaining about her wrist playing up when she uses the sink water pump.

I need some help regarding a suitable 12V pump and how to wire the thing in.

The Van is about 5 years old (unlike us) and any advice on this matter would be appreciated.

Cheers

Seakarvan

PS
Just back from seeing the in Ballina and the Richmond is bloody fish-less ! ! !

There are few different options available to you. Either way, you're going to have to take out the old hand pump from the sink.

Then you need to decide what to fit in it's place. You can get a tap that incorporates a switch (hidden underneath), so that when you turn the tap on you also activate the electric pump at the same time. The wiring would be:

1) wire from POS battery terminal (via fuse), to one of the wires on the bottom of the tap.

2) wire from tap (the other wire on the bottom of the tap) , to the POS wire on the electric pump

3) wire from the NEG of the pump to the NEG of the battery.

The plumbing is dead easy.....just plumb the pump into the hose between the tank and the sink's new tap.

The other way would be very similar, but just have a simple outlet on the sink (no tap) and then have the pump wired up as above, but use a simple PUSH BUTTON switch to activate the pump instead of the electrical one on the underside of the tap.

Hope this helps.

Or use a pump with pressure switch - turn the tap, pump starts, turn the tap off, pump stops.

Red wire to +12, Black wire to Earth.

Mines a Flopump FL2202 - available from Boating suppliers.

Thanks Guys,

A few options and all good. Thanks for sharing you knowledge.

As with everything in life more idea's spring from innovation.

Can I wire into the transformer box in the van?
I use dual batteries in the Troopy and don't run Caravan batteries.

Cheers

Hi
get a inline whale pump 12v there only about 3 inches long put it under van as near to the tank as you can to keep primed and you don't have to remove hand pump, small switch on side of cupboard wire it to transformer. I put a small non-return valve under the hand-pump keeps line full.
Good little pumps made in Ireland not china for a change.
