We are presently in
Darwin but will be traveling home in late Sept.
I am thinking of going down through
Kingoonya to Hiltaba,
Yardea,
Mount Ive and then out at
Iron Knob. Has anyone been that way lately and if so are there many flowers out this year? Also road condition?
Thanks
Mal.

Went down through there 4 weeks ago.
Gawler ranges were very green, but for all the wrong reasons - wards weed was growing like crazy. But there was
water cascading over the
small falls and it was great after the recent rain. Fantastic walks up some of the gorges.
Sturts Desert Pea was prolific south of
Kingoonya - just growing on the shoulders of the road. There were other flowers around but nothing out of the ordinary.
Roads were is very good condition (
well graded) as is usual for the
Gawler ranges.
Cheers
Phil

Gday Mal,
We hit that area about a week or so after Phil, and yes lots of wild flowers starting to show, would have been even better a week later, Googs was also just about to burst out in full colour. You could get a good show. The road is excellent with them still grading when we went through just above Kokatha.
I can recommend a meal at the
Kingoonya Hotel.
