2wd van, go north towards Mossman then turn left to to Mt Molloy, down through Mareeba, Atherton and down to Ravenshoe on to Mt Garnet then go out through Gorgetown and out to Normantion, swing south to Cloncurry and west through the Isa and into the territory and turn north at the 3 ways.

This will be the easiest on your vehicle as they are all good roads, try to fuel at major centers along the way depending on your fuel tank size.

Have a good trip

Hi Rockape
You don't think he could go The Savannagh Way from Normanton, a hell of a lot shorter and a mate just travelled that way towing a standard caravan with no troubles.
Just a suggestion
Cheers Ray

PS I am having trouble coming to grips with calling someone "Rockape" Lol

Gid-day Ray,
Yes they could go that way and it is a lot shorter as long as the road is ok, I don't know what sort of 2wd van it is so I just suggested a easy way.

Have a good one

Been a few months aince I have been through, prices will be around $1.25 to $1.28 a litre in major Qld towns or ones close to the east cost including Mt Isa if you choose to go that way. Add another 10cents to minor towns in Qld.

Territory will probably be around $1.45 at the threeways and higher in elsewhere, if you choose to go via Borroloola which is shorter, expect to pay another 20 to 25cents a litre. Getting closer to Darwin on the Stuart highway prices will drop.

You will have plenty of good fishing around Normanton or Kurumba if you choose to duck up there.

Yep,

I know rocks, big ones, little ones, hard ones and especially the ones we send you with rock bolts, cable bolts, mesh, bucket teeth, drill rods and anything else we discard. MIll rats and fitters just love all that steel ripping up their belts, stopping mills and causing havoc in flotation cause the pumps are destroyed.
LOL.

Been working u/g for many years now and I still can't understand why I am turning a lighter shade of pale.

Wilko! don't sniff to many reagents, it shows up on your drug test.

My real nickname is Grumpy, the actual reason I copped that is I am always smiling. Well that's the way I see it.

Photo was taken in a stope at Cannington mine.

Have a good one and now I will have to sign off will my real nickname

Mate,
there is always work in the scrub for someone willing to do it, you just have to ask around, shops/vanparks/servos/pubs and stock and station agents.
Croydon van park was owned by the shire and and was a good place to stay.

If you do decide to head south from Normaton and you have the dollars turn west near the burke and will junction to Gregory downs then out to lawn hill, it is worth it.

Seeing you have plenty of time, ask the locals about roads as they can change very quickly depending on stock movement or high volumes of traffic have been cutting them up.

Don't know if you have had much to do with road trains, if you haven't get right off the road for them, especilly if they are carting stock, the live weight can make them a very unstable even at low speeds if they move off the crown of the road.

Take your time and carry plenty of water.

If you like corrugations, go the Savannah Way. There's a couple of small
river crossings (depending on the rain). It will take you longer though due to the slow going.

Be careful filling up in Normanton and Borroloola has the price diffence at the pumps in these towns iis 40 cents.

Normanton BP is good and also TJ's Fuel Stop at Borroloola. Normanton BP
is closed on Saturday arvo's and Sundays.
