howdy folks, I fitted a warn 9500 xp before my trip in july this year. After only 5 days the spider washers had bitten right through the bleep y aluminium base plate/mounting bracket of the control box. About the middle of
Sandy Blight Junction road I pulled it apart and replaced the spider washers with some heavy square gal washers which gave me about another 3 weeks before I had duct tape wrapped around the control box,
driving lights and bull bar. As you can imagine I was pretty
well bleep off, $2700 and duct tape everywhere. After calling the ARB dealer he said they would replace it with the same, they have nothing better!!!!
I can make something better myself, but this is bull bleep . I can't find the actual warn website. Is warn only distributed through ARB?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hiya Mate
I have the same Winch just over a year old now,Ive been through some pretty rocky
places, about 120 river crossings a lot at bonnet height etc since ive had it,What are you doing to possibly cause this to happen (no blame meant),ive just looked at
mine and there still perfecto...
Another thing too is use your Winch regularly and the clutch leaver,if its seen
water (
river crossing) the warranty is basically void and the unit can seize up.I unwind it once every 2 weeks as Ive had it seize and its common with this model..
Good-luck

not sure river swaggie, fitted the winch 3 weeks before we left, headed out to
giles weather station and then up sandy blight, 5 days it was hanging off. * weeks all up and not even a flat tyre, so I'm not a prick of a driver??

Thats a weird one.Off course there is the obvious (locktite, washers with rubber backing etc etc) or you could relocate the unit to under the bonnet like i am thinking about and firmly FIX it there..
Goodluck.

Mines been
places for the last 2 years, boy I abuse that winch.
Read your thread and went out and did my first maintenance on it in 2 years.
No trouble at all with
mine - sorry to see you had a bad run. Of all the
winches Ive had, I must admit I do not look after them. (At all)
I had to muck around with some solenoids on one of the neglected
winches once, but after cleaning the rust from the contacts we were off and racing again.
If the original does not work for you, then to make a mount yourself is the way to go. Cheers Tony

Try this link to get to Warn Industries spare parts for 9.5xp
Replacement Parts
You just need the parts numbers to order from a winch place here (not necessarily ARB) or straight from Warn in the US.
