Hi Guys, Just wanting to know if you could help, suggest, advise or point me in the right direction in
buying a Camper Trailer. I am looking for one based on the Jayco Swan type. I will be only driving 99.9% on the roads with my
young family in and around Aust. I have a Holden V6 3.6lt engine, I trust this would be capable of towing such a camper trailer. Thanks in advanced for this. Gary

Hi Gary,
New or used? Approx how much do you want to spend? How many kids do you have (how many beds do you need)?

Hi Gary, No need to apologise - I was just trying to ask some questions so you may get some more appropriate responses.
We checked out new Jaycos and Coromals earlier this year. The Coromals were much more expensive, (a new one probably more than $25k), but seemed to be nicer inside. (and perhaps a better build quality??) They also had a kitchen area with one wall that you can push out, giving you a bit more room. Try and get to a caravan &
camping show where you will be able to check a few different brands out at the same time.
We didn't end up buying the sort of van you are after because we decided we wanted to do a lot of off road trips.
I hope you get some helpful responses.
Leanne

Rather than the jayco have a look at the goldstream. They seem to be better quality built. Friends took one around oz with 3 teenage girls. Very
well built and comfy. Have a look here.

Have a look at the Exandas as
well. Easy to tow and a hell of a lot quicker to set up,especially if you've two little-uns wanting to go and play instead of watching mum and dad set up the caravan.
You also dont have to wind it up everytime you need to stock it,pack it or clean it.
I have an Expanda outback hardlid and after owning a jayco eagle C/T wont be going back to the wind- up again.Currently three weeks into a trip from
Hobart to
Cairns and back, and the crew and I can be up and running after
parking, in about 7 mins. We aren't travelling with a full annexe though, just the pull out awning.
Some of the older model expandas are starting to show up for sale about the place. A friend of
mine has one that's three years old (she also went from a wind-up) and tows it with a Kluger no problems at all.

What is the Holden rated for towing?
The on-road Jayco Swan has towbar weight 105kg (approx) and tare weight 1040kg (approx).
You'll find a Coromal Silhouette camper similar to the Jayco Swan.
Coromal is heavier, I think.
All depends what you want.
Price goes from Jayco (cheapest)--> Coromal---> Goldstream and many say quality follows price.
