Kiwi,
Which way are you going in.

I went there last year and it rained all night. We had no trouble getting out - at least when we left.

It will be interesting to see if SPOT will work down there

Any way great spot (excuse the pun) and have a great time.

Hi Richard, I was there last year at Easter, on the Monday morning after raining lightly on the weekend and the Monday morning i think i only just got out, water was top of wheel height on the main river in. No snorkel and a diesel, i was a little anxious!! When we crossed, there was two Landcruisers with their bonnets up, i hope they were just wet petrol engines.. Thinking of going back the end of next week with my boys for a few days during the holidays. Always a good stay!! Michael

Ricard

I basically drove down from Wagga to Braidwood on Friday night (met up with a couple of mates who had driven down from Sydney) camped at Braidwood and on Saturday morning drove through Braidwood heading towards Cooma (passed Captain Flats) and came into the park via Krawarree Road, between Nimmitabel and Braidwood.

had a great time - it was cold as xxxxxx - it blew like a xxxxxxx - but we had an excellent time :-)))))

It is a great place.

There are a few tracks where it would not be good if wet. Looks like kiwi went in the way we did.

We left early due to the rain. I hope to go again sometime.

KiwiAngler, Am I right to understand that this cost about AU$200 a year for the device & the tracking option?

Also, do you have any thoughts on the battery life - 14days active use?

Cheers

Gidday Richard

re cost
yes 'about' $200 per annum for the tracking and the search functions

re battery life
When I did the Canning and Cape York (both trips were 1 month) I had spot going at least 8 hours a day every day and never had the batteries give out - BUT they must be the super duper AAA Lithium ones

Had a 'little' drama on way back

Came back via Cooma/Adaminaby/Talbingo/Tumut and it got very wet, then very dark, then very snowy and then very scary :-))

but at least I had a good feed inside me before I left :-))

and I got the chance to see some 'friends'

and their mate

Looks like some nice weather up there!

Where did you get you unit & how long does it take to get it initially setup to go?

I imagine some details need to be forwarded to the "SPOT" people for activation.

Cheers

Gidday Richard

I got mine off e-bay a while ago now when no one in Oz was stocking them.

There are a few Aussie companies that sell them now - just do a bit of a search

From memory it took about 10 minutes and 1 credit card to 'set up' and activate - it is all done on-line through SPOT Home Page
Note:

It is cheaper to pay for the International Search fee when activating your unit than to do it later - so give it some thought before you decide to activate

This GPSOZ Forum website is a good place to ask questions
