Can anyone tell me where to buy one, and how much i should pay for a sand flag.
Priced a 3 metre one in
Darwin, about $200, is that about right.
Thanks,
Troy.

Have a look in the exploroz
shop. They have them there. I have a 3 metre
mine type flag (with the amber light on top LOL) and they are normally about $300 plus so they range in price.
Cheers Mick

Troy, you will find a good flag for $170 on this ExplorOz site here: www.exploroz.com/Shop/Sandflags/Default.aspx
Or just go to "Shop" and select "Sandflags"

I am a big fan of this particular sandflag - very solid, the tallest I have seen (real important on the Simpson). Worth the money IMHO.
Saw many different variants in the Simpson, some homebuilt some not, and some plain useless. The fishing rod/aerial types bend backwards with any sort of forward movement and negate their effectiveness. Some flags I saw were no higher than the roof of the car - useless again. Need something that is tall and rigid, as it is the very first thing you will see if something is coming the other way over a dune.

Make one yourself.
You can use an old fishing rod, old HF aerial or a Fiberglass Wogpole(aka Squid pole). The latter can be sourced in
Melbourne from most Fishing Shops and is telescopic up to 6 metres. Costs about $30 from memory). Make a red or
orange flag from any flexible material and attach to pole.
But if you want to spend $200.....then go for it!

I went to the local bike
shop and bought one for about $15.
I see you have a pack rack so just bolt it on to that.
We are leaving
Darwin in the morning but if you want to send MM I can tell you where we are for a look.

I bought a 6 metre "wog Pole" for about $26, then just need to figure out how to mount it,
mine goes on the bullbar so the flag is up about 7 metres

yeah, that may work, i actually made a pvc sleeve and then a steel bracket to bolt it to the bullbar, you see the finished result in my rig pic.
