Bob,
here's a photo of our LC200.
Image Could Not Be Found
Prodigy is right in front of my left knee on that sloping part of the dash.
UHF CB is in front of the gear stick.
Scangauge on the left of the instrument panel.
I would put the rear view screen in the RH corner of the windscreen. If you haven't bought it yet, consider replacing the radio with a double DIN setup that can take a rear view camera like the Kenwood shown here.

Another thought, if you haven't already bought the RV camera the Toyota one involving a new rear view mirror is excellent. The vehicle is already wired for it.

No probs, Bob.
The Toyota photochromatic rear view system is a reversing camera, ie, it looks almost vertically down at the ground immediately behind the vehicle so you can stop running over something.
It's not a rear view camera like on the back of a caravan where you get a pretty good view of everything.
cheers

Saw somewhere that because 200's have under dash knee airbags you are not
supposed to attach anything to the panel where you have the Prodigy.
Cant remember where I saw it but definitely did.

Thanks Graham, will talk to Toyota Tech advisor and make certain placement wont impede deployment or give knees a smack.

Some put them where the ashtray is apparently.
In where the UHF is in the pic above.
Not exactly sure but I believe it is actually illegal to put anything anywhere
that may interfere with the deployement of an airbag.
That probably goes for the idiots that put heir feet on the dash.
Would be able to put their legs in a jar if the bag went off.
Saw a post fro a paramedic who said he has seen unbelievable injuries from people doing this
Like knees embedded in face, Ankles pushed up to knees.
Sounds lovely.

Graham
Noted and will also look into Ash tray area [again]. Caravan Repairman suggested ash tray area and actually looked at ash tray housing this morning and seemed to say, nah that wont be entirely suitable so was going to revert to knee area, hence my post.
Thanks again.

There's an easy answer to the question:
The 200 Series doesn't have underdash knee airbags.

I certainly hope that it is not the case also, as my UHF is mounted on the right side & the remote speaker on the left in the same place as Gone Bush on my 200 ! You will find that the 200 has front & side air bags.

I have just looked up the Safety Specs on all models of the 200 Series & it has Front - Side - Curtain Air Bags, there is no mention whatsoever of Knee Air Bags.

Well, I'm never too old to learn something new.
On the Toyota website the downloadable pdf brochure shows the VX has driver and passenger knee airbags.
It would be interesting to find out if that has applied only since the current update model has come out.
So, yes, Bob, you will need to consult your dealer about the placement of your Prodigy. I get my dealer to install all electrical type accessories, that way there's no arguments later on.
Also, I'm glad I bought the poverty pack GXL.

and Graham H, I see you drive a 100 series.
With your knowleadgable research into the 200 series do I detect a new vehicle in your future?
Maybe to match the new van?
You will not be disappointed, knee airbags and all.

Not sure if you are having a dig at me or not, but NO i wont be.
My 100 has only done 117,000 so my wife said it has to last till I die. LOL
She bought the new van.
Also I do all my own addon work and the wiring in the 200 is a bit beyond me.
Dont do a lot of research, Just read the forums and its all there.
I wouldnt trust ANY dealer to do the correct thing all the time either, usually
the apprentice gets those sort of jobs and perhaps doesnt even look to see
which model it is.
Have heard of people mounting things on the steering wheel centre when it
has an airbag, a recipe for disaster if ever I heard one.
Cheers.

Gone Bush, the VX / Sahara have always had them.
I put my P3 in
the spot designed to hold the credit card on the RHS. A little filing out is required but it is quite neat.
Also I put a 3440 behind the consol in the rear ( shich just pulls out) and the remore head on the passengers side consol.

I was just about to say that Boobook...!!! Yep, they have always had them but I have my Prodigy exactly where Stephen..(Gone Bush) has his. Had to be careful screwing the bloody thing in place though...just to the left of the airbag.

Can I suggest you consider placing the Prodigy on a bracket on the top of the dash in easy reach of a hand moved a short distance from the the steering wheel. Two problems with placement as in the photo above:
1) in a front end prang your knee and the controller ARE going to come into collision, whether it be because an exploding airbag propels it at considerable speed (and with considerable force) toward you OR because your body moves forward as the vehicle decelerates
2) in the event of wanting to access the controller in an emergency, the time taken to find the appropriate control down, out of sight in front of your knee will be much greater than if it was in very easy access of a hand on the steering wheel, maybe too great to salvage the situation.
Furthermore, just for normal adjustment and setting of the controller, placing it as in the photo above will necessitate taking the eyes off the road for much longer than would be necessary compared with the quick glance needed if it is placed as I have suggested.
I have made a simple but strong bracket and mounted on good quality double sided tape on the dash just in front of my right hand and have run the wires neatly down inside the trim (on my 100 series) and I find it the best compromise without damaging anything permanently.
Regards,
Mark

Mark and others.
Have looked at the area and the VX Air Bag deployment window is directly below the steering column and about 12'' wide. Accordingly is
well clear of where the Prodigy Controller could be located so would not compromise deployment. I appreciate that knees could go forward and hit controller and that is a point worthy of consideration.
In regard to quick access to the controller it is a valid point indeed, I have had the prodigy controller near left knee on previous two vehicles [Pajeros] and did practice locating the van brake lever on many occasions in the hope I could respond appropriately in an emergency. I will contemplate the pros and cons over a red.
Thanks to all for useful feedback.

wrt the camera, there is one on ebay in the US which is the same as the OE one that fits on the top rear door. Search Land cruiser 200. It is about $40 usd from memory.

Here is the answer I have deleted consultants name out of politeness
Dear Mr
Hill,
Thank you for your email received by Toyota Customer Experience Centre.
In relation to your enquiry, the VX and Sahara come standard with knee airbags the GXL does not.
Thank you for contacting Toyota and allowing us the opportunity to respond.
