My cousin has just sold a relativeley new van, with all the bells and whistles.

Excuse!, (not financial obvisously), I'm not enjoying towing anymore!

Fair enough, so their looking at the Winebago motor home range, at the moment.

My bro inlaw has just sold his camper trailer and now looking at a caravan!!!.

Excuse!, His SWMBO wan'ts more home comforts!!n

LOL..My neighbour Has his old van.... and camper trailer up for sale!, reckons that if stayingi on the black top and only a couple of weeks off a year, would prefer to just stay in a cabin in a good park!

Me!!..Iv'e just sold a good van, Swmbo wan'ts a better one(more bells and whistles).. But I'm thinkingi a big tent out the back of the cruiser will be fine,

But have been informed to-day that not to forget to write where ever i might be...lol.

So many options now!!, one way or the other, My ol man used to bundle us in the old car , take off somewhere to some god forsaken place,as mum described it, put a tarp over a fence somewhere and that was end of story!!, make your own fun or sit there in misery, (think i did a lot of the later)...lol
only because i wasn't interested digging holes in dry creek beds with this allusion something of value might be found, How you get around to there way of thinking as the years go on......lol.

Luxurious vans ,Motor Homes,Tents, Hi topVans, Slide ons, Trailers, What a bloody market thats developed over the years, not thats its bad!!, Theres something for everyone, But is the spirit of true camping, being lost to the family home been able to be towed just about anywhere?

Cheers Axle.

Axle Old Son,

I think the reason camping has become so popular is that there are so many ways, now, to do it.

It's no longer a case of an old, heavy, canvas tent to set up and charring your food over an open fire. You don't have to bog behind a tree if you choose not to.

Sure, you can do it with a swag, chair and a box of matches. Or you can enjoy the bush in an airconditioned home away from home. Or anywhere in between.

I don't believe there is any true spirit of camping. It's what suits you and what you make of it IMHO. Different strokes......

Cheers,

Jim.

I have been camping 35 odd years, wife passed children have own life, still in a tent but I do it to my comfort, 5 minute tent, camp stretcher Gazebo kitchen, cobb cooker (still love my roast), rifle & fishing rod.

Computer & DVD's, GPS & mapping programs I make sure I enjoy my camping as I did 30 yrs ago with a swag & a box of matches.

Duke my shepherd is a good hunter & companion. Just like it easier as I get older.

G'day Cuffs,

I have to ask - is Duke a San Rancho Shepherd? He is the splitting image of our San Rancho dog, Luger, who is 4 years old.

Hi Axle

You have the room so try this option.

It does require things to be packed differently and aquiring of things that work within this system , but after spending 8 nights this way recently , even during a sand blow , the comfort and time you save over the rest of camp , and
in the bush is well worth it.

Hi Axle,

You will be pleased to know we still do camping in tents, have done for 25 years, taken kids to many places in Australia and loved every minute (Almost)

Your right there is so many options for camping, now and again we go to 4WD/Camping shows looking at different options, go home with a bag full of brochures and big ideas. Too many choices and so expensive!!

Camping is been done in so many styles and ways to suit all types of campers and travellers. The great thing is that we are getting out and having an Aussie adventure and seeing this amazing country!
