Totally agree,You can buy them everywhere.A bit more expensive but
well worth it.Aussie Disposal have them also...Even comes in camouflage for that outback on a mission feeling lol

Steel stuff makes your food go cold to quick unless you muck around trying to pre heat them in the fire etc.

Agree - melamine are better in this regard. We picked up a nice set (4 each of plates, bread plates, bowls and cups) from Bunnings a while back. Pretty good price too.

well prefably those with food on lol
yes i use melamine but have found there is a difference in quality
i had some that i bought cheap last day at a caravan and
camping show
were made in israel and they bleep tered into pieces ( yes i can hear the wise-cracks from here) on one trip so then bought another brand but off hand cant recall the name
and they are ok so far
likes been said st/stl goes cold too quick but good for say the csr etc on bad horragations and also a sustitute for a frizby

They are light, easy to clean (saves
water too), and economical.
Often we have done our washing up in a flash (literally) while fellow campers struggle to scrape tenacious food residue from Melamine Enamel and Steel plates, then use precious
water, and tip nasty detergent out, while we are on to our third post prandial glass.

Melamine is better for keeping food warm. Personally, we just use plastic cheapy plates (Décor) from Big W. Metal plates do a very good job of transferring the heat directly to your hand/lap as
well as acting like a heat sink to the surrounding air - but at least you could put them directly on the burner/stove to reheat!

Oh, and if you want to use paper plates, best to use them to line your plastic plates - saves washing up and also saves having the knife go through the paper plate.

Years ago my inlaws baught us a little suitcase with plastic plates, cups. knives and forks etc. There has never been a reason to upgrade.
We carry a couple of enamel plates but they are more often used to aid in the cooking process.
It is probably an occupational
hazard, I am a firefighter. My wife is not keen to spend money on night out at a restaurant with my work mates because it's only half a night out. I eat so fast nothing has a chance to get cold.

I use the lids of 20 litre buckets they are strong and sturdy and sit in your lap a treat they also have a good thick rim around the edge so you can fillem up with stew and it doesnt spill everywere.
