Hi Hamo
Try www.nextdestination.com.au (sorry don't kmow how to do a direct link)
as they are the Magellan agents in Aust. They have their map send and lite send programs, may be what your after.
Hope this helps

Hi
Mapsend Lite is a free program for displaying Magellan format maps...though it doesnt actually come with any maps. The program has been superceded by VantagePoint, though Mapsend Lite has its uses.

Hi - havent used it that much as I dont have a Triton/eXplorist. Does have geocaching functions as
well as import/export various data formats thanks to GPSBabel integration. You can also view raster maps ..once converted to the right format

Hi
There are free maps here - based on Open Street Mapping data
Magellan OSM Maps
While I havent checked them suspect they are lacking in detail compared to commercial products (overall...some small areas are probably better).
Cheers

Magellan is like Apple and other suppliers than make sure you have to buy their factory cables and maps and batteries and maps all expensive as is the hardware.
Sorry

Yeah like Garmin, Tom Tom, Mio, Navman, Destinator, CoPilot, VMS, Hema etc ...must be a trend in making a living and providing employment.

I use the magellan explorist 500 and love it... However there are very few if any decent free maps available. Most of the free maps cover a very small area and don't always have a lot of detail. You are much better off buying the "DiscoverAus" (which includes "outback tourer") from Next Destination in
Perth. Have included
link
All the best
