Landcruiser Fuel Gauge

I have an aux rear fuel tank in my 75 series L'cruiser. The gauge on the dash works when it wants to and at best is unreliable. I keep tapping it.

I was wondering if I can replace it with a VDO gauge.

If I could do so I would fit a VDO gauge lower down in the dash and remove the big lump of a housing that the std gauge lives in top of the dash. I could then fit my radios there.

If this has been answered before I apologise, but both me and my computer are extremely slow at searching.

Many Thanks, Ian

Hi Ian
Yes you can replace the guage with another brand , i did this with a troup carrier i had years ago , i mounted the guage in the overhead consol , right out of the way , i could never understand the reason for that huge hump on the dash board just for a fuel guage .

Thanks Colin,

Yes, the big lump all for the sake of a fuel gauge takes up a lot of room in my cramped cockpit. So the faulty gauge is making me think it is an opportunity to relocate it.
Did you have to change the take sender too?

Many thanks Ian

Thanks everyone. I think I will go ahead and operate on the dash. It's good boy stuff to do in my shed anyway. Cheers Ian
