Hi fellow travellers.
Wishing to purchase a new set of BF Allterrains ,fitted size i have now is 265 ,75 ,16 I have just recently been told by a local tyre dealer that i am able to go to the next size up which is 285, 75, 16 it will throw the speedo out by 5ks but that's fine, but the advantage he said i would gain is more ks on the clock before a new set of tyres are required.
Question i have is there anyone who has actual knowledge of this and can you forward any info on this topic to me please.

happy travels Mick and Jen

Mick and Jen

These are the results of a tool that is on this site. Tyres

or some good reading

I fine as I'm sure you do, thats its better making up your own mind, than having others do it for you.

Results for your selected Wheel/Tyre 1
Rolling Radius 401.95mm
Circumference 2525.53mm
Diameter 803.9mm
Wheel Cover Size Size 009
Results for your selected Wheel/Tyre 2
Rolling Radius 416.95mm
Circumference 2619.77mm
Diameter 833.9mm
Wheel Cover Size Size 009
Differences between Wheel/Tyre 1 & 2
Rolling Radius 15mm
Circumference 94.24mm
Diameter 30mm
When your speedo reads 100km/hr you're actually at 103.6 km/hr

Happy reading

Regards

Richard

Or when you have the new tyres you have to do 96.4 to sit on 100k :-)

P/S In QLD they are not legal as you can onl go to 15mm larger in diameter.

But heck, I went 1 full size up and 25mm. Cheers Tony

Hi Mick. You could go to 275/70-16 (2400mm circumference) against the original size 2357mm circumference. Have a look at sizes here~ http://www.bfgoodrich.com.au/index.php?a=tires.off_road_suv

here's some good reading on the subject of wheels and tyres, of course the legalities of changing tyre sizes may well depend on your location.
