We are planning our Trip including the
Savannah Way for next August. I've heard the Linmen River approach is steep. Is it ok for a Landcruiser and 17ft off-road caravan? How deep are the river crossings for the
Savannah Way in August?

We travelled the Savanah Way this August in a Land Cruiser and a 20 ft Supreme Territory. At that time of year the river crossings had little
water in but that can change from year to year check the local information closer to when you travel. The road was rough in
places but they were working on it in quite a few
places, as long as you drop your tyre pressures and drive to the road conditions you will be fine, when the signs say DIP take extra care as some of them are real bone shakers but are fine at a much slower speed. It is a great trip and a wonderful part of the world, enjoy as there is plenty to see and do.
Regards
Greg

Hi Wendy
We just got back last weekend doing the trip
Cairns - Mattaranka and found it just ok and yes some of the dips are a bit rough and some parts the corrugations are a bit how do you do especially if you are going to be towing a van, all in all it's just ok, tyre pressure on your tug and van will be very inportant though and take it easy. There are some lovely
camp spots on the track. St. Vidgeon down by the
water, Robinson River and Butterfly Springs. Mt Suprise has a lovely Caravan
Park and if you have the time go to
Lawn Hill N/P but stay at the
camp ground unfortunatley Adele's Grove look after the bookings now and tell everyone it's full. Enjoy the trip.
Cheers
Rick P
