ExplorOz Team - Damian
Thankyou to all ExplorOz site users who have been informing us about the difficulties in site usage over the past few weeks. As you may know, David and Michelle are away planning the 2010 National Gathering past
Wiluna in outback WA. They are currently out of mobile range and has been so for a few days. As many of you may know, David has been working hard for two weeks trying to solve these performance issues and was close to cancelling his trip because of the current issues. The website seemed to be behaving just before he left, but as Murphy’s Law would have its way, the site has been quite problematic the past few days.
The website is being looked at right now by the WebCentral DBA team leader and other network engineers. We are experiencing some difficulties, and we are hoping it will be resolved, but there is a very good chance that it needs to be worked on code-wise when David gets back. My role (Damian) has been to compile log reports and user error reports, and assist the crew at WebCentral. I have also forwarded these reports to David who would receive them as soon as he is in mobile broadband range again (e.g. near
Wiluna). I have a feeling that there is only so much WebCentral can do, as they can only report the site errors, so we need your patience and understanding at this time.
We understand that the problems are creating a lot of frustration out there, and understand that
forum posts discussing the issue are a way of expressing this frustration. However, we must ask you to please refrain from creating any more posts about why the site is slow, and hopefully we will have some luck in the coming days.
Cheers
Damian
