Hi people, have just test drove above vehicle and found it a bit too hard
suspension wise .Is there an easy way of improving the ride eg.softer, without compromising the carrying capacity.Would wider tyres help?
Any comments would be appreciated.

What pressure was in the tyres? If over inflated, will give you a harsh ride, just a thought.

iva,
If the vehicle was empty when you had the test drive it would appear to have a hard
suspension.
With a little weight even having full fuel tanks will make the vehicle ride better.
Tyre pressure will also make a big difference, if they 50psi or higher it will make a difference. Having wider tyres will make the vehicle ride softer only because of the lower tyre pressure that they normally have.
You could replace the rear coil springs with a progressive rate spring. With this type of spring they will give a soft ride when empty but as the weight increases the spring rate will increase, but that would be a last resort.

Ive got EFS progressives in my 2005 GXL and cant tell the difference when its empty It does however sit better when loaded.
What I can notice is when I have rears up at 45lb when towing and dont let them down afterward. There is a vast improvemaent with 10lb less.
Best check the one you tried.

Iva, you need to let us know what springs, shock absorbers,
wheels and tyres are on the vehicle. Even tyre pressures as mentioned are useful.
Known 4wd brand shock absorbers can induce a harsh ride on standard springs in an empty 105 series....You get what you pay for.
The 105 series
suspension is easliy adaptable to what your requirements are, just add $$...

I think it is stock
suspension (judging from the post). And it won't be easily adaptable to his requirements if he wants to have something softer than stock.

A standard Landcruiser would be running on split rims with skinny tyres which can give an unpleasant ride. A friend of
mine had a Troopy with the standard
wheels and tyres and the ride in the back was almost unbearable. After he replaced the
wheels and tyres (no
suspension mods), the ride was significantly better.
It might also depend what you're comparing it to ... it doesn't matter what mods you do, it's unlikely to ever ride like a small
sedan because it's a very different type of vehicle built for a very different purpose/use.

Comfort is relative to opinion......Meaning one person may find the same car good and another person may hate it...
I have 400kg rated non-progressive springs with split rims and i cannot fault ride quality....
