I have a 2004 petrol RA Rodeo, I have a intermittent Check Engine light illumination....the Holden shop tells me the the code thrown up is P1626, Immobiliser no/or wrong signal but they are unable to tell me why this is occuring....obviousily they can reset it but it costs me $30 each time...has anyone had similar happen to them?....and is there a way of resetting the code without having to visit GMH?

Paul if you pull the main engine fuse for a few minutes it will reset. For memory it is a 30 amp fuse, but check your manual it will tell you.

Paul,
I had a similar problem with my 2006 RA 3litre diesel.
It happened a few times over the space of a couple of weeks.
I did notice I was having battery problems and turned out ok after changing the battery. GMH could not find any fault.
The problem only occured during startup.

Thanks to all who responded, yes, the vehicle is LPG equipped but it has been for two years, the 'check engine' light has only just now shown its ugly head, and yes, despite the battery being just over a year old I have just had the first hint that it might be heading south, last week it appeared sluggish during starting...I'll try the suggestions made.
This highlights a certain 'mistrust' I have with high tech equipment on todays vehicles...in the 'old days' all one had to worry about was getting a spark to the plugs and petrol to the carby and the engine would go...nowdays computer skills, or at least expensive diagnostic gear replaces the shifter and can of 'start you bastard'!...I now have some reservations about heading of the beaten track....will my push button 4x4 mechanisim or my 'engine management system' computer be able to hack it, and equally important, will Freds Fuel stop and Towing Service beyond the Black Stump be able to fix it??
I never had a problem with using a lever to shift into fourby or even manually winding a window down....!...ah, for the good ol' days.
Thanks all.

G'day mate, thanks for your input...I'll try as you suggest. I have had my LPG conversion now for almost two years and I have been totally happy with it, I'd be interested to hear about yours....I have now had a second tank fitted and with 144 litres all up we can travel a long way between fills, this has proved very handy in the bush where LPG servos are far and few between.

I am mostly happy with the Rodeo but as I have said I am a little concerned at the electronic gizmos they put in cars today..it can present issues if these things break out west.......my other bugbear is the lack of power the Rodeo has when compared to my previous 4x4, a Jeep Cherokee, its really noticable when towing our 16' poptop, I often have trouble keeping up with the traffic, other then that they seem to be a very capable vehicle...Id love to hear about yours.

Hi Paul
I have the same vehicle and have just fitted a device called a Scan Gauge II. This item plugs into the OBDI connector and talks to the engine management sytem. It shows all of the data such as fuel economy and all other engine parameters such as temps and pressures as well as trip data.
It also can be used to check and reset error codes from the engine.

They are about $200 from Ebay.
cheers
