Just wondering if anyone has been to Stinson
Park recently and what the conditions were like, given the recent dust storms, lack of rain etc. We visited some years ago, and it was very nice, with lots of lovely shady, grassy areas.
Also, there is no facility to book, first come, first serve, just wondering if now that school holidays are over, we would be having a problem - two caravans just for the weekend.

Hi Bunny ,
We have not been recently , but were there in March ...certainly very lush and green then . Would have plenty of shady spots still, and the
creek runs all year round . Excellent
camping area , lots to see within a 50 KM radius and a
well cared for
park with good clean facilities eg
water and
toilets .
Have a great time.

Hi Fred,
To be a little more exact , this
park can be found by taking the
Beaudesert to
Rathdowney Road ,then turn off left at Laravale onto the Christmas
Creek road and follow that until you arrive at Stinson Memeorial
Park (
Campsite no 636 in "Camps 4" book ...by the way ,
Darlington Park ( #634 in the same book ) is also very good , plus some other nice
camping spots in the general area ...
well worth a visit ! And DO drive the Lions Tourist Road !
Enjoy !!!

Was there one month ago. Paradise as usual. Was advised that from 1 October there will be a caretaker and a booking system (by the new caretaker) due to people having a few too many and playing up, threatening violence etc (I love being Australian!!!) . I have lost the phone number but would call the Scenic Rim Council for details. I have been there many times outside holiday period and never seen it too busy. Don't forget to drive to end of Christamas
Creek Rd where you will find the most fantastic bush with great
water holes.
Cheers

Thanks for everyone's input.
I have spoken to the Visitor's Bureau and there was no mention of any booking, so I'm unsure about that. If anyone has any other info, it would be much appreciated. I'm wondering if the Scenic Rim Council would be the same as the local Visitors' Bureau.
Glad to know it is as we remember it some three years ago. We are looking forward to our break. Have ventured down briefly to the end of the road, so will be doing that again.

Was due there this weekend also but have postponed for two weeks. Maybe have not started bookings yet. The fella who spoke to me about a month ago did actually mention Visitor's Bureau. He was working through booking protocols with them I believe. It is a fantatstic place.
Have fun.
