I had a feeling it was all the FLASH ads that were slowing us down -

Mind telling us how to stop the flash player ...

Cheers

I have turned off all ads including flash and it is NOT the flash player.
It is a pathetic slow server. This site needs a decent load balanced server.

So I guess your suggesting that WebCentral who host the EO site and one of Australia's top web hosting service providers (owned by Melb IT) is using out of date crap gear.

I'm astounded you can tell that the problem is all host server based, Damn your good!!

You don't think it could be related to third party feeds that run the adverts at all do you??

Australian hosted site does not mean a thing regarding quality of equipment.
I happen to know what I am talking about. And Melbourne IT in particular is not at the top of the food chain.

It's erratic - sometimes fast, sometimes interminably slow. Was on line at 4am this morn (WA time), and it was working at a snail's pace. Currently (9:30am) it seems to be working ok.

Near every other thread that mentioned how sloooowww this site is has beed banished

What a disgrace- a bloke pays good money to be a Member and ya say something they don't want to hear and they banish ya

Get rid of half the adds that fly around the place and it may speed the place up a bit...(My 2bobs worth)

"Near every other thread that mentioned how sloooowww this site is has beed banished"

Maybe you should read down the page, none have been removed that I can see.
Damien has asked in a another thread that people stop posting about the issue and fully acknowledges that there are issues that will be addressed when David returns around the 7th.

How about just waiting until David returns around the 7th and can get the issues straightened out and find out the whole story.

Its called Murphy's law and its just unfortunate that the bloke who built and manages the site is away for a short holiday and the site develops some issues that he needs to address.

Its not uncommon when your a small business person to have your world fall apart so to speak just when you are about to go or are away on a much needed break and because you are a small fish in the pond you don't happen to have the resources available like the big end of town does to deal with it whilst you are away.

How is David supposed to be able to fix problems that Customers are experiencing, without having lots of up-to-date information about problems that Customers are having ???

I think David would presently have "lots of up-to-date information about problems that Customers are having" ???

We are now getting so much posted about the same hassle it's getting tedious and no post recently has said anything different, or with specific information, that may assist David when he gets to check out and fix the problem.

Some claim to 'fix' the problem one way and then are strongly rebuked by someone else, so it's a problem we as forum members (probably) can't fix ourselves, so I think we have to just put up with the hassle for now and await Davids return.

( I'm more interested in fixing the "Spell Checker" problem Grrr

"Server Error in '/' Application.
Index was outside the bounds of the array. " )

Mainey maybe try downloading IeSpell.
Its a freeware spell checker that you can use on any web site you visit and works very well.
I have used it for a number of years now since someone else on here posted about it.
www.iespell.com and have a read.

Mike if you care to read Post 72649 and 72661 to name but two then you will see that Damien is logging the issues and keeping David up to date on the problems.
I'm sure his in box is quite full and as soon as he is back within mobile range he will wish he was back in the desert.

Maîneÿ - I fixed this by right clicking in the text box and select Spell Check - It then checks your spelling like a word document and underlines any spelling mistakes.

No having to use the spell check box below then.

Cheers Tony

John, will look into that system because this one in not working for me :((

Tony, have tried doing it your way, ( " right clicking in the text box and select Spell Check ..... not having to use the spell check box below " ) I must have a differed browser or something as nothing like "spell check" appears and the 'spell checker' here is taking too long to open tonight, so I've copy/pasted using word.
