Just got some quotes to send my 7x4 trailer from Adelaide to Perth - one was $1100!!!!!!!!!
Still got to check how much the train is but I'm not holding my breath. I may sell it if I have to but would prefer not to.

Thought I might see if anyone was heading that way around December and wouldn't mind taking a trailer with them. You can load it up and take stuff with you if you want.

I'm sure some sort of payment can be agreed to, as long as its not $1100....

Any takers or ideas?

Cheers
Nick

Nick, It cost me $1200 to bring over a troop carrier so I am surprised that a trailer would be that much. You would think that a general cartage place would put it on top of a load.

Cheers

great southern rail will carry my hilux Adelade to Perth for $300. I dont think being a passenger would make any dif to the price.

Owen,
Being a passenger certainly makes a difference, we travelled Syd-Per (Gold class) in 2005 and it only cost $90 for the car.
A few years earlier we travelled Adel-Per in Sit up class and it still only cost $180.

Disco.

Spirit of Tasmania are the worst, travelling with car cost $75 for vehicle, travelling without vehicle it cost $500. Thats pure robbery

I am a passenger and the vehicle cost perth to Adelaide is only $100. the dif in price Adelaide to perth is because they backload a lot of empty bogies from Perth. I am suggesting that They will move a trailer for the same arrangement or less regardless of whether you are a passenger. I am not going to ring them cos I am not sending a trailer anywhere.

Spirit of tasmania has the real price but the Fed Gov sponsor people travelling with their car because they dont want to disadvantage poor old Tasmania by being cut off from the Highway One. It's not about robbery but equal trading between states as the constitution implies. More about getting a freebie from the Fed.

Cheers for the replies.

I was shocked at the $1100 price, the same company quoted $920 to send our Honda Jazz there?!?!

I will try Great Southern Rail, any other recommendations?

Lange Transport used to be good for Melb - Perth about 5 years ago.

They have an Adelaide depot but I don't know contact details. (Try Google)

Just got a quote back from Great Southern rail. They won't take the trailer by itself. They will take a car and trailer for... $1776.00!

Wow, the missus got a car shipped across 3yrs ago and it cost $560odd. Can't remember who it was through though.

I'll keep trying... next try is Lange Transport.
