The Bigfella
I have a 2005 Terracan and the warranty runs out next February.
I want to buy and extended 5 year warranty and would like any advice from you good people on this
forum who can recommend a good insurance company to buy this thru.
I know all about the fine print, etc but would like it to cover the big cost items if they happen.
Thanks
The Bigfella

Have a look at this
LINK where you can chat with other Terracan owners. You'll find them very receptive and helpful. Good luck.

try nissan to see if you can purchase an extended FACTORY warranty.
All the others aren't generally worth the paper there printed on.This has been my experience on what i have encountered over 20 odd years of working on cars. They all seem to be limited to ONE item a claim and will only cover a certain amount per claim anyway.I think you are much better just stashing the cash you would normally spend on these warranties and have some sort of back up plan.
A lot of these will only cover $2500 or so per claim. You wont fix many major components through a workshop for this sort of dollars.
If nissan come to the party with a warranty make sure it is a NISSAN EXTENDED FACTORY WARRANTY not just aftermarket thing sold by a nissan dealer.
As i said they are good for small failures but then they are not the ones that are going to cause to much concern.

many extended warranties demand servicing at a recommended service centre (that maybe kick back to the warranty provider). Miss a service and miss a payout for breaching the terms.
If you are in the habit of saving a heap of money by doing your own servicing you are out of
the loop and you can forget it.

One of the things you have to remember is "YOU" have the aftermarket warranty, A lot of the time in smaller towns around Australia you will find workshops will fix you vehicle but charge you and expect to get paid by you, They either cant afford the long wait as the warranty company string out the payment, and at other times dont pay because it went higher up the food chain at that company and they decided afterwards they don't cover that, or only pay so much for that type of repair in a city so wont pay the freight.
The last one of those we had a few weeks ago the people rang their company when their alternator failed and their company rang us and told us how much we could charge. LOL didnt quite happen like the guy on the phone thought it would.....oops..

The above is spot on. I worked for a small country dealer last year and I was instructed that customers were to pay for repairs and fight the warranty company themselves. The boss would not entertain the idea of putting a claim in on behalf of customers because it took so long to get paid, if you got paid.
Cheers
