News to me...

Jol Fleming handles all the bookings/permits for the Hay River / Batton Hill trip, so shoot him a line at > jol@direct4wd.com.au < and get up-to-date info from the bloke in the know...

mrt,

I did a Hay River trip early August and planning another next year.

I have not heard any thing about that part of the North Simpson being closed.

The South Australian and Qld side of the Simpson desert will be closed again this year from Dec 1 to middle of March. I'd expect they'd close the Hay River track at the same time because you'd need to travel on these closed tracks.

Hi mrt,
I believe that driving up the actual river is against the wishes of some Aboriginal tribes.Crossing the river is ok.
