Does anyone have current road condition for the Plenty Hwy. Have travelled this route 2007 & 2008 with Camper Trailer but have off road caravan this time. Leaving NT late October.

We did the run across to
Boulia in July, pulling a camper trailer. Road conditions were OK, only mild corrugations. There was plenty of sharp gravel though, the trailers leading faces were nicely blasted. Probably the worst of it was around the BT/QLD border. We saw quite a few people travelling west towing caravans, they didn't appear to have any trouble doing so. July is not really current, so I hope you get a more up-to-date report.
Boulia was a great place to visit, we only stayed two nights, but would like to have spent more time there. At that time Gemtree could not supply diesel, as their pump was broken, would imaging that is no longer the case. We could get fuel at Jervois, but Tobermorey was closed. We can recommend
camping at Spotted Tiger, about 7 km off the road at Harts Range. We had the
camp ground to ourselves, it has shades, showers and
toilets and is tucked in at the bottom of a range. See thread 65094.

Hi
I drove it in early September 09, no problems.
Usual story, keep the speed down and eyes open. Drive to the conditions as there are some short unexpected rough bits.
I know someone who towed a camper trailer through about 2 weeks ago, no problems.
Watch the weather forecast because I believe rain could change things very quickly, especially around the Qld NT end.
Good luck and safe travel
Cheers
Phil

Did not drive it but while at
Alice Springs in Sept. was speaking to people that came across on The Plenty so called Hwy. They said some of their group had damage to their Camper Trailers in holed
water tanks/filler pipe broken off. One of the wives said it was the worst road they have been on.
But hey as said just take it easy as the road conditions allow, I've found out that most people have different oppinion of a bad road
Good travelling
