hilux 3.0 turbo diesel for towing

hi guys,
just looking for a 4x4 to upgrade from my ol patrol and have found a 98 lux with 194k on the clock,
would like to know what sort of life would you expect to get out of these motors and what they are like towing i have a old windsor pop top and would expect it to weigh about 1500 kg fully loaded ,
any other advice would be greatly appreciated

That would be an aftermarket turbo I believe.
Believe the KZN165R factory 3.0TD started in late 99 early 2000.

I tow an offroad camper trailer with mine. Not quite that heavy but close. No problems. Electric brakes help.

If your new to turbos make sure you give it a cool down when you stop, particularly important if you've been towing.

Be careful about towing in 5th gear (overdrive). Search the forum for more on that.

Those motors last forever with regular service.

G'Day archar,
I have a 2003 KZN165R and have an older style Jayco offroad camper, all up fully trip loaded it comes in at 1500 kg (give or take)Had to install Electric brakes as Hilux is pretty light but I feel very comfortable with power to weight and stopability.
