I want to replace the 15", 6 stud l/cruiser wheels on the camper trailer with 16" wheels.

My question is will they fit?

I don't see why not but if it is a tent top camper make sure that the overall dia is the same or you will have baggy canvas if smaller or canvas that won't touch the ground if larger.

Most Landcruiser's came with 16's , so, if it's a landcruiser hub, and there is enough room inside the mudguard, should be no problems.
I Don't know what legal requirments are in place or what size tyre you want to use, you may have to check regs

We just upped the tyre size on our Van to match the Gu's that we have and like you suggest Shane, it all seemed easier than it actually was. I needed longer coils (independant susp on the van) and shocks and then had to deal with the offset which wasn't quite right with the GU rims on the van but we got there in the end. We went a full 6" bigger in tyre size which means the annexe is not quite right anymore as well. Will be all worth it in the end I think??? LOL!!

Look right into it first Boo Boo. This was something that I planned well and all problems encountered were expected so there was no extra nasty bills or surprises on my behalf.

Cheers, Trevor.

Yep, did that on mine.

Replaced the 31x10.5x15 with 235/85/16.

Make sure that there is room in the mudguards on full suspension deflection, and as mentioned above, there is enough in the canvas or if a hard top, enough drop for the floor to still work.

BooBoo,

I did that on mine using Nissan rims but even Toyota should not have made that more difficult.

The only downside has been the increased height of the camper trailer, This means that either I have to leave more weight on the wheels or the canvas is stretced too tight to reach the ground.

I can get around it by digging the wheels in a bit but that is not always convenient. I am looking at a spring compressor to allow me to lift the trailer on its stabalisers without competing against the suspension.

Just something to consider.

Mine is ever so slightly out, so I let the tyres down a little when necessary..... a tad inconvenient, but it works if camped in one spot for a few days.

Thanks for the replies fellas

Tomorrow I will put one of the troopy wheels on and see how it goes, even though there looks like plenty of room.

Should be straightforward swap. One thing to watch is the position of the wheel centres. Landcruiser 15" rims will 'poke out fiurther' and give a wider track. Can be a prob if they are outside of the body. Would be best to try some samples and get the one that suits. Cheers Ian
