New Hilux 30D single cab

Hello, i am a new comer to ExplorOz so have few questions for you guys.
Just purchased a new Hilux single cab 4wd turbo diesel with alloy tray.
Reason i chosen this model is because i can have one vehicle to use for work and play and i have no kids yet.
The questions i have is, do you think this Hilux will make the
Canning stock route?
Probably not, so what is the best way to go to upgrade?
I understand standard tyres willl need to go and replace the suspensions (new springs?), which would suits best and anything else i should consider?

The old adage, "A good driver in a 2wd will go further than a poor driver in a 4wd", comes to mind. Others will probably tell you you need to upgrade your
suspension and buy top of the range tyres but standard 2wd vehicles were going thru there years ago without drama. JMHO.

Mate, to be honest the only thing i would change is the tyres to some decent All Terrain L/T tyres, and thats it. If its only a couple of years old the
suspension will be fine, but it might need changing after the trip if ya dont take it easy. A bloke at work refuses to buy anything aftermarket and will only fit all original Toyota parts, his 100 series has done the Canning, Gibb etc and no dramas. Cant say the same for the others hae has travelled with, with all the latest and greatest ARB and Old Man Emu gear. Alot of failures and bush fixes.

Hi supertramp,
Your standard hilux will be ok but upgrading would be better. Take at least two spares plenty of fuel and plenty of
water
Make sure you prepare, tell someone and you should be ok

To make it much more capable in that sort of country, you need to get rid of all the plastic cr@p at the front and put on an ARB bar, put in an OME or similar
suspension kit, get rid of the standard 76 litre
tank and get a 140 litre Long
Ranger. I'm also getting a safari
snorkel and fitting
mine with 16x7 steel Prado rims fitted with 265/75x16 Cooper ST-C tyres, ARB front wheel flares to allow for these tyres, ARB side rails, front under body protection, ARB rear air locker and plenty of other stuff before I consider it ready to go to the
places that we like to go in Top End as we live in East Arnhem Land.

Guys, thanks for the tips, i think at this stage i will
fork out for the front bar then over time gradually modifying as i go along.
Could be a long progress eh!
