Would like to know a quality brand and reasonable cost of a 12v tyre inflator for 4wd, reliable and able to pump up 8 tyres on car and caravan when and if need be due to pressures being reduced on the odd occassion. We live in
Perth, WA metro area if this helps. Many thanks, R.

Richard, I use a Projecta Typhoon,
twin head unit that works great after having one fail within a month.
There will be a dozen or more opinions on this...
ARB make good units, one of the traders will introduce you to the Sidewinder
Bushranger and even Supercheap.. etc. etc.
Start looking around $200.00 + and - a few bucks, with anything above 72 ltrs per minute as a starting point.
4WD distrACTION magazine did a test not long ago. if you can fine that it will help as
well. If you have a 4WD
shop that you trust ask them as
well.
Good luck

I also have a Projecta Typhoon although it looks a little different to the one pictured.
It never misses a beat but is getting pretty warm by the time it has re-inflated the four Coopers on the Troopy.

Hi Richard
What sort of car a you wanting to use the pump with. Because the best tyre inflater I have ever come across is using an old airconditioning pump running on your motor. I means you need the room under the bonnet to fit the unit.
With my current car I cannot fit one but my old landcruiser had one. I had one of those older versions that have two pistons in them with a little sump so they did not run out of oil.
Could pump tyres up the fastest. Cheap to setup - I think I bought
mine from a wreckers for $50 and made up a bracket to hang off the existing aircon pump and run the v belt off the extra pulley on the aircon.

David, great idea. Car is a Pajero 2004 Diesel.
May need to consider the portability due to pumping up caravan tyres.
Thanks, R.

I have one of the older ARB engine mounted ones works fine for me. It does get really hot and if that one fails one day I will upgrade to the new ARB unit
