If reliability is high on your priorities then the extra cost is more than worth it. My Koni's have been transferred to their 3rd car & have taken an absolute flogging. There are higher performance shocks around for sure but not many in that price range would last as long.
Price???? I wouldn't know. From memory
mine cost about $125 eleven years ago :-)

Had Koni adjustables on three vehicles, a L/Cruiser, GU Patrol & NP Pajero and never s problem. As you probably know you can pull them apart & rebuild them. I phoned around asking touur operators what tyres & shocks do they prefer on their vehicles. Answer was Koni, Bilstein & OME. In that order.

Interesting they said OME at number 3. I've found them to be one of the worst performing shocks on my outback trips in fact last month one fella pulled his top price LTR's off after they faded in the first day of hard driving. I suppose like many others they fit them because they have a large service backup & a big name on the sticker.

If they are good and they work for you, PRICE shouldn't matter, simple really.

Have used a range of shocks of
well known makes, and now have koni.
Lasted twice as long, still one more adjustment to go, and will be sticking to them.
Might have to get them rebuilt.
How much, can't remember, too long ago. :o)

Forgot to add, what I like about the konis is that they are mainly a rebound shock, so compression is not as much as a jolt on a bump as most shocks. Makes a difference on a firmly sprung 4wd.

Hi Oldplodder
interesting info on the type of shock
I would agree the
suspension on my 60 is pretty hard and has Konis and is as goos as a lot of coil vehicals i recon.

I replaced my Rancho's adjustable's with Koni's about 12 months ago and what a difference it made in my ride. The plus factor for me was that they are rebuildable which means in 2-3 years I will only have to spend about $35 per shock.
If you are happy with them then just stick with them you can't go wrong.

$35 a shock ??? try approx $90....!!
Have had two of my Konis lose compression damping ( 1 rear, 1front ), so the front shocks are now Bilsteins and the back will be if the Konis give any more trouble....
